1.) Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.
Its just not.. the Highest known peak in the world is Chimborazo in Ecuador (technically a dormant volcano and Glacier) it’s summit is 6384.4 km (3968 miles) from the Earth’s centre, 2.1 km farther than the summit of Everest.

2.) The Earth is round.
The fact our ancestors used to think the world was flat is often used a source of amusement and degradation, however we should not laugh to much. As our ancestors will probably laugh at us for thinking the world is round. It is not, the technical term for the shape of the earth is infact an “oblate spheroid”, and this is not just some meaningless technicality. As shown by the fact above, those objects near the equator are considerably higher than those nearer the poles. This is all caused by something called an “Equatorial bulge”. Like a ride at the fair ground or water in a bucket, the force of inertia forces moving object to the opposite direction of that moment. In the case of the earth which is spinning in a circular motion, matter is forced to the sides, counter acting the force of gravity that would naturally form a circle.

3.)Centrifugal forces
So you go round a corner too fast in your car and end up hitting a tree, thats centipedal force pushing you outwards right?
well er no.. Centrifugal (inward) & Centripedal (outward) forces just don’t exist. Not from a scientific perspective anyway. Because a Force has to constant, and these forces only appear while you go around a bend, so unless these mystical forces live in the bends their must be another explication for it.

Scientists arnt exactly sure what that explication is tho, the nearest they have come is deciding there must be a force at work called Inertia. The idea behind his force is everything in the universe likes to keep moving (or not moving) in the same direction and so if you try to change direction you incur the resistance force of Inertia. Still confused? Well so is everyone else.

4.) Seagulls
There are well over 50 types of different gulls and members of various gull species are often called sea gulls or seagulls. This name is used by laypeople to refer to a common local species or all gulls in general, and has no actual fixed taxonomic meaning.

5.)Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space
He was the first man to go into space in a space ship and orbit the earth, but not the very first man to actually make it into space. That honour goes to Joe Kittinger.

Also there are accusations that the Soviets launched at least two humans into orbit prior to Gagarin, but both cosmonauts died en route or in orbit. Another is said to have landed off-course and then been held by the Chinese government. The Soviet government then supposedly suppressed this information to prevent bad publicity for their space program.

The realm of Near Space officially lies between 75,000 feet (~23km) 62.5 miles (100km) according to the International Aeronautical Federation (FAI). 200km is where it becomes safe for satellites to remain in orbit without immediately becoming dragged down by friction with the residual atmosphere

In 1960 US Air Force Captan Joseph Kittinger dived from a balloon that he had flown up to 31km altitude. He nearly reached supersonic speed before releasing his parachute. He was testing whether pilots of high altitude aircraft like the U2 spyplane could survive if they had to bail out. So he reached well within the realm of near space.
